Full Field of Fourteen Set for $200,000 Mrs. Revere Stakes
On Saturday at Churchill Downs, the featured race is the $200,000 Mrs. Revere Stakes. The Grade 2 race is scheduled to be run at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf and has drawn a full field of fourteen three-year-old fillies with four additional on the also-eligible list.
Testa Rossi (FR) is the slight morning line favorite at odds of 4-1 for trainer Chad Brown. A sophomore daughter of Dr. Fong, she will be making her first start since finishing fourth in the Ashland (G1) at Keeneland in April. She has won five of her nine starts, two of which came against graded stakes competition after beginning her career in France. Jose Lezcano will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
Lady Lara (IRE) going for two in a row
Bill Mott will saddle Lady Lara (IRE) as the second choice at 9-2 on the morning line. After racing primarily in Great Britain, the bay daughter of Excellent Art (GB) made her stateside debut a winning one last time out in the Pebbles at Belmont Park by half a length. She is going for the first graded stakes win of her career and will have Shaun Bridgmohan aboard from post position eleven.
Munirah trying to rebound after poor performance
Also in the field and a longshot at 30-1 on the morning line is Munirah for Breeders’ Cup winning trainer Graham Motion. A bay daughter of Kitten’s Joy purchased for $160,000 as a weanling, she won two of her first three starts including a graded stakes score in the Boiling Springs (G3). She is trying to rebound after finishing tenth in the Pebbles. Miguel Mena will be aboard and they will break from post two.
