Opening day of the Churchill Downs fall meeting kicks off with the $80,000 Street Sense for two year-olds going a flat mile. 
The BC Turf Sprint is always one of the most wide-open races of the weekend, and this one is no exception. 
The Grade 3 Senator Ken Maddy is the featured race of the afternoon Sunday October 25 at Santa Anita as a field of 8 fillies and mares will contest the six and one half furlong tilt on the track’s trademark down-hill turf course. 
The Grade 1 $400,000 Beldame Stakes for fillies and mares September 26 at Belmont Park has drawn a field of six, but offers a glimpse of top Breeders’ Cup Distaff contender Wedding Toast as she makes her final scheduled prep in the mile and an eighth event on the main track. 
On Saturday at Santa Anita, all eyes will be on champion Beholder as she makes her final prep for the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) in the $300,000 Zenyatta Stakes. A Grade 1 race carded at a mile and a sixteenth, she will face eight rivals. 
On Sunday at Woodbine, the stakes action will continue with the $300,000 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes. A Grade 1 race carded at a mile and a half on the turf, the stakes race has attracted a field of nine.
