Seven Juvenile Fillies Set in the $200,000 Adirondack Stakes
Some of the most promising two-year-old fillies in the country are set to compete in the 98th running of the $200,000 Adirondack Stakes on Sunday at Saratoga. The Grade 2 race will be contested at six and a half furlongs on the main track and has drawn a field of seven.
The morning line favorite at 5-2 is Angela Renee, a two-year-old daughter of Bernardini trained by Todd Pletcher. Bred and owned by Siena Farm, LLC, the bay filly is out of the minor stakes winning mare Pilfer. She broke her maiden in her debut effort at Belmont Park in June and will again have John Velazquez in the irons for her first effort against stakes company. The pair will break from post position three.
High-priced Cavorting will make stakes debut
Kiaran Mclaughlin will send out Cavorting at morning line odds of 7-2. The bay daughter of Bernardini was purchasing as a weanling for $360,000 by Stonestreet Stables, LLC and will have Irad Ortiz, Jr. in the irons for her first start against winners. In her debut effort, she romped by eleven-lengths as the favorite. She is out of a graded stakes winning mare and will break from post five.
Well-bred Take Charge Brandi has experience edge
Also in the field is Take Charge Brandi, a longshot at 10-1 on the morning line for D. Wayne Lukas. A $435,000 purchase as a yearling, the chestnut filly is by Giant’s Causeway and out of a half-sister to champion three-year-old Will Take Charge. She broke her maiden in her debut effort in June and was second in the Schuylerville (G3) at Saratoga in July.
