Strut the Course has been installed as the morning line favorite at odds of 6-5 for trainer Barbara Minshall. Bred and owned by John Unger, the Canadian-bred mare is a five-year-old daughter of Strut the Stage and was the Sovereign Award Champion Older Mare in 2014. She has won eight of her nineteen starts and comes into this race off of a victory in the Dance Smartly Stakes (G2) last time out. Luis Contreras will be in the irons and they will break from post three.
Checkered Past trying for first graded stakes score
Second choice at 2-1 on the morning line is Checkered Past for trainer Malcolm Pierce. A homebred five-year-old daughter of Smart Strike for Sam-Son Farm, she has been on the board in nine of her twelve starts and is a five-time winner. She will be trying to earn the first graded stakes victory of her career and was last seen winning the Trillium Stakes in her third start of the year. Eurico Da Silva will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
Uchenna (IRE) attempting to move forward off last race
Also in the field at morning line odds of 6-1 is Uchenna (IRE) for trainer Roger Attfield. A four-year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock (AUS), she began her career in her native Ireland before making her North American debut at Keeneland in April. She was fourth last time out in the Trillium Stakes and won an optional claiming race in her prior start. Alan Garcia will be aboard and they are scheduled to break from post position two.
